Escaping the storms and floods Cutting Edge members met today to enjoy yet another day of sewing and to welcome Hillary, Gilly and Yvonne who visited for the first, and we hope, not the last time!
As ever there was lots of news to share about forthcoming exhibitions and workshops and once this was over some members shared some lovely pieces of work that they had produced.
Gilly, new to patchwork and quilting, showed everyone the very first quilt she had made, which was stunning – she certainly has an eye for colour
Linda had been busy – she had two quilts to show – a lovely black and cream one
And, a red work quilt
Monica showed a wall hanging that she had made from a book that Chris gave her last month
In addition to all of this there was plenty of work in progress.
Pat was busy making a Scottie Dog quilt with a little help from friends.
And, Dilys was also on a mission to make Scottie dogs – love the tartans!
Jan and Gilly were having a good chat whilst they beavered away.
As well as being extremely talented the Cutting Edge members are also very generous, and today was no exception. Hilary raised £123.00 for the victims of the Philippines typhoon. In total, since her return for the Philippines, Hilary has raised £550 from her fundraising efforts!
Finally, Monica wasn’t allowed to forget that she has a very special birthday soon. She was thrilled to receive a birthday card and cake to celebrate the occasion! And, the card seemed to inspire her to make a wall hanging – one day in the future!
Next month members will be able to have a go at using shaving foam to create a work of fabric art!
