Celebrating the Arrival of Spring With a Bit of Sewing!
With spring in the air there was a spring in everyone’s step today and, as usual, great enthusiasm for an enjoyable day sewing and catching up with friends!
With “morning prayers” out of the way some members showed off their work – and what a wonderful display it was too.
Jeannie seems to have a never ending energy for producing the most wonderful quilts. This one she created from a picture in an American magazine.
And, this one has been made from colourful fabric scraps – a delightful gift for Project Linus.
Brenda showed a quilt that she had also made from scraps. She thanked the person who gifted the box of buttons that she received from last year’s Secret Santa as she had used them to decorate the quilt – another one for Project Linus. There are going to be some very happy faces when their new owners receive them.
Jan had also been productive. This is a piece of work in progress
And, this is one she made earlier.
Dianne showed a reversible quilt she started in 2005 and has just completed.
Pat has nearly completed a Scottie Dog quilt that she started last month.
Dilys demonstrated how to sandwich a quilt by using two pieces of wood – a method that you can use at home on the dining room table.

Jane was busy making a tea cosy with a camper van embroidered on it.
Hilary was on a mission to finish a cushion for her niece. She used the loose fabric collage technique to create a wonderful butterfly.
And Sue was making a Jemima Puddleduck quilt. She had been very inventive and used a rag book for some of her panels.
So much creativity and I bet it has hardly made a dent in anyone’s fabric stash!
And, to round of the action Pam demonstrated her painting with shaving foam – always a winner!
Lots of colourful pieces were produced and we look forward to seeing some wonderful finished products soon!
