First day back after the Christmas break and everyone was eager to get to work.
Helen was busy making panels for a quilt for the Lifeboats. Beautiful colours.
Corinne was busy making a quilt from a lovely bright batik fabric. She is hand stitching round the batik flowers and has an embroidered fleece to use for the back of the quilt. Looking forwrd to seeing it finished.
Brenda showed eveyone a quilt that she has made for a little girl called Seren – very apt!
Fiona is flying with her knitting. She has now moved from garter stitch to pearl stitch. Well done to Brenda who has been an excllent mentor. Bridget is also beavering away in this photo. She is hand quilting her whole cloth quilt.
Chris was also busy hand quilting..
And Sandra and Yvonne were both engrossed in new projects.
As well as the work in progress there was also lots of finished work on show.
Corinne and Keris had made some lovely Christmas hangings
Hilary showed everyone a door stop in the shape of an Aga that she had made for a friend.
Gilly and Jan showed off their quilt bags/wall hangings that they made at a Busy bees workshop. Lovingly created and will always be treasured possessions!
Sandra’s quilt is all hand stitched and quilted. Lovely subtle colours and beautiful design.
And, Sue had completed this delightful bird quilt
Irene has set out to do a block a month project and showed us her first. She also told everyone about a wonderful new die cut machine that she has. She has been able to scan the design for this panel and then cut the shapes on the die cut machine – lucky thing!
Linda showed everyone an exquisite little Christmas cross stitch that she made.
In addition to all this Julia managed to demonstrate how to make continuous bias binding from a square of fabric and for anyone who is interested the instructions can be downloaded from the top tips page of the blog.
The group welcomed Hilary’s son and daughter in law from the Philippines, who popped in to say hello. It was great to be able to meet them and delightful that they were able to spend so much time chatting to members and viewing the work in progress.
And, to round the day off Gilly celebrated a very special birthday and everyone enjoyed some birthday cake to celebrate the occasion.
It sees that there is never a dull moment at Cutting Edge!
