Cotswold Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild are organising the Embroiderers’ Guild South West Festival Day on Saturday 18 April at the Thistle Hotel in Cheltenham.
The event is open to anyone interested in stitch and textile – not just EG members
There are two guest speakers:
Susan Kay-Williams CEO of the Royal School of Needlework who has a long standing interest in textiles – particularly in dyeing. The RSN has worked on everything from the wedding dress of the Duchess of Cambridge through to hangings for English heritage and now offer a BA degree programme, a diploma in technical hand embroidery, courses at 10 locations and regular exhibitions at Hampton Court Palace.
Chris Rider from the Midlands Textile Forum who is a textile artist and teacher who uses a variety of skills and media from felting, dyeing, printing through to hand and machine embroidery.
Plus traders selling speciality threads, silks & goldwork, hand dyed lace, buttons, ribbons and trims, Vintage themed sewing kits, beads & beading accessories, fabric, dyes, paints and other products for mixed media and textile work – and more.
In addition we have a raffle with some great prizes, Lucky Dip bags, members’ competition on the theme of ‘Festivals’ (come and vote for your favourite) see the display of work from the Young Embroiderers in the SW Region and other exhibits; and enjoy a 2 – course lunch in good company. The cost of the day is £28.00.
