A New Year of Painting and Dyeing

Today was our first day back after the festivities and it wasn’t long before everyone was engrossed in activity. There had been a suggestion that members could focus on a Folk Art theme to start the new Tear but it wasn’t obligatory.

We welcomed two visitors Sally and Hilary who decided that they would like to have a go with the transfer art paints and considering they hadn’t done much previously produced some fabric pictures to be proud of.

Fiona experimented with freezer paper and stencils and dyed some fabric using polystyrene balls and elastic bands as resist….

And she brought along a little fabric basket that she had made with some fabric that she dyed at the December meeting – which looked very effective.

Liz used a cardboard leaf stencil and markel sticks to produce a beautiful piece of fabric

Monica cut out a freezer paper dala horse and experimented with acrylics, markel sticks and Jacquard lumiere paints to determine which looked best. She then drew a panel with fabric pens and used inktense pencils to colour in. She also dyed a piece of fabric and used a bird block print.

Caroline tie dyed some fabric and experimented with Jacquard lumiere paints and stencils producing a stunning piece of fabric

And Jan made some lovely Christmas cards by recycling this years batch of Christmas cards that she had received.

All in all – a very busy day but always time for a chat!
