Supporting a WW2 project at Danescourt School

In December 2019 we were pleased to be able to lend our support to a Make Do & Mend project that was being run in Danescourt Primary School. Keris Howard’s son Tim, who works there, was in need of scraps of Christmas fabric so that the children could make Christmas cards. And as ever, there was no shortage of support from our members.

The children had been learning about WW2 all term and the cards had to be made from scrap fabric. Tim told them that fabric from worn out clothes etc, was recycled and used to make other things. And they talked about how important it was to get letters and cards from their families in wartime.

Below are photos of some of the cards that the children made. Such imagination and great to see some cross stitch incorporated too!

A huge thank you to all those who donated fabrics, which were very much appreciated!
