Pictures for an Exhibition

Today group members gathered to make fabric postcards for our forthcoming exhibition at the Tapestri Cafe, Swansea which is being held between 10th and 24th August. The exhibition is part of the 2018 Swansea Festival of Stitch

There was swathes of fabric to choose from, embellishments and most of all heaps of skill and enthusiasm to produce some beautiful postcards to reflect life on the life on the ocean waves, or on the beach.

In fact there was so much enthusiasm there is likley to be more lovely postcards to come …..so watch this space!

Great wook everyone – well done!

Dreaming of Warmer Summer Days

For a variety of reasons including luxurious holidays to warmer climates, looking after grandchildren and the less fortunate suffering with illness there were only six DtP members present on 1 February.

However, a good day was had by all and it was great to see that the majority of the time was spent on coastal scenes which will no doubt feature in our forthcoming Swansea Festival of Stitch exhibition which is being held at the Tapestri cafe in August

Corinne was busy developing an Arctic background scene for a polar bear and Glynis was in a warmer climate with beach huts and boats….

Whilst at the other end of the world in New Zealand and Australia Keris was keeping an eye out for ideas for both herself and the group. She reported that she has found a seahorse pattern – and some Christmas patterns that might be of interest to the group for a festive members day session later in the year!

And although Hillary wasn’t able to make DtP last week she has been busy making some fabulous sea themed cushions to go with a quilt that she has recently made.

What an industrious crew we all are!

Well done folks – keep up the good work

August Blues, Pinks, Red, Yellow, Gold………

Dyeing to Paint members don’t normally meet in August because there is the myth that everyone is away on holiday?

Not true because today eleven eager members turned up ready and eager to create!

Still popular was the ice-dyeing.

Many thnaks to Caroline for replenishing the ice supply at short notice!

A wealth of other resources were also being used, including some lovely stencils that Fiona brought along and shared.

These are Caroline’s pieces of work – always full of vibrant colour – beautiful!

Seedheads were popular. Jan stencilled hers in a subtle shade – they are just waiting for some creative stitch Jan.

Isobelle tried out the seed heads as well and then produced a lovely piece of fabric using the rollergraph.

Isobelle also brought along a mosaic fabric seahorse that she is making and will look stunning when it is finished.

And, Fiona brought along two wonderful wall hangings that she had made using the seed head stencil. Love the holographic threads that were used.

Apologies to Fiona as these photos don’t do her work justice!

Fran was busy using her gelli plates and produced this amazing piece of work

Monica was busy trying, not too successfuly at times, to stencil shells onto a piece of previously dyed fabric. Many thanks to Isobelle, Jan and Hillary for their pearls of wisdom – always a winner!

And Glynis brought two completed pieces of work that will be used for our stand at the Ystradowen Village Hall day on 16 September

Glynis also brought her sister in law with her today and how artistic is she! Look at this beautiful picture she created. We hope you have a lovely day Vivienne and thank you for your company.

As ever, a busy and creative day interspersed with lots of chatter and banter – an ideal recipe for fun.

Hilary’s Contribution for the Quilter’s Exhibition Tombola at NEC

Hilary was also very industrious yesterday. She was covering little note pads with beautifully embroidered fabric. They are being donated to the Tombola stall at the Quilters Exhibition that is being held in the NEC, Birmingham in August.

I am looking forward all the lovely items that have been donated.
