A Hive of Sewing Activity!

Another CE meeting under our belts today and what a wonderful busy session it was too, with lots of projects underway accompanied by oodles of chatter!

We were delighted to welcome Chris who is new to the area. She came prepared with a quilt that she is making and we hope that she enjoyed her visit.

There were quite a few quilts on the go. Truda was finishing off a colourful house design quilt

And Gilly was working on bright alphabet one for Project Linus

Caroline was hand stitching a half hexagon quilt

Kerry was preparing blocksfor her latest project.

Jan showed panels that she is making for her current project and showed a piece of work that she had completed from the Trease Lane workshops

Sally showed a quilt that she had made with Rachel’s help

And Wendy showed a beautiful quilt that she had made with a previous group. Fabric transfer paint was used for some of the material pieces.

Carol brought along her family tree stitched art work and enjoyed her day sewing

Kerry completed two cute little plant pot in cushions

And Eleri was working on a cute little bird

A huge thank you to everyone who took their Monopoly panels today.

And, many thanks to Eleri for providing the Welsh translation and to Kerry for the provision of fabric – the perfect colour for the centre of the board. And of course, not forgeting Pat who prepared all the individual panels – no mean feat! It is going to look splendid!

We look forward to receiving the completed panels back in due course. The deadline for return is the July meeting so no rush – and if you need any help at all please ask!

Below is a block that Monica has been experimenting with – using free machine embroidery and ink tense pencils

And, finally, many thanks to Dianne for her work in producing this amazing quilt block for Valeways. It will be used to promote Valeways involvement in the national Walkers are Welcome initiative. The block was collected this afternoon by Rebecca Exley from Valeways.

Message from Rebecca:

“Cowbridge was accepted as a Walkers are Welcome town two years ago and has been expected to include a quilt block to contribute to the national wall hanging. Group member Rebecca Exley contacted the local craft group Cutting Edge for help, with spectacular results. Cutting Edge members Dianne Cousins and Monica Dennis got together to create a beautiful depiction of Cow Bridge which Monica presented to Rebecca in April. The quilt block will be taken to the Walkers are Welcome annual get together in Llanilltud Wells later this year for regular display. Rebecca said “Gaining Walkers are Welcome status for Cowbridge is all about engaging with the community and businesses to ensure we provide a warm welcome to, and in, our town”
